About the Event

Meet The Arc Day is an opportunity for local chapters to do two things:

Fromย 7:00-10:00 a.m.: Local chapters of The Arc will table in the Capitol’s Legislative Conference Center, where legislators and their staff will be invited to join us for kolaches and coffee and learn more about each chapter.

Then, for the remainder of the day: Chapters will have time to meet with their legislators and legislative staff in their Capitol offices to share the public policy priorities most important to them.

Note: This event is open to local chapters of The Arc of Texas. Participation is limited to 10 representatives per chapter.

Advocacy

Public policy addresses a public issue through laws, regulations, and programs developed by governments. Advocacy is when you inform policymakers about issues you care about so they understand how their decisions impact peopleโ€™s lives.

Learn How to Advocate

Want to learn more about how to advocate confidently and strategically? Check out our โ€œLegislative Advocacy Toolkitโ€ intended to help you have conversations with legislators anytime! This toolkit is general โ€” not specific to an event or issue.

Remember to Vote

Elected officials have the power to impact the lives of Texans with disabilities positively or negatively. YOU have the power to help determine who gets elected.
