Inclusion Works! - Resources for Families
"Creating school communities in which each student belongs, contributes, and is treasured."

The Arc of Texas believes that all people with disabilities have the right to experience life to its fullest. Most would say that life is richest when it is spent in the company of others...in our families, our jobs, our neighborhoods, our places of worship...and our schools.
Although The Arc of Texas is working to expand opportunities for people with disabilities to be included in ALL aspects of society, Inclusion Works! focuses on inclusive education. It is our hope that as we teach Texas school children to read and write, we will also teach them to accept and value each other's strengths, abilities, and differences.
The Inclusion Works! Program provides the following services:
Each year, The Arc of Texas plans and produces the state's largest conference on inclusive education. More than 1,000 teachers, school administrators, paraprofessionals, and parents gather to share their struggles and success stories.
We work with TEA and legislators at the, state, and federal levels to strengthen and protect the laws and policies that provide educational rights to students with disabilities.
Our information and referral team can offer you a variety of materials, resources, and personal assistance regarding inclusive education.
This library contains a number of audio and video tape titles you can use to teach your district or campus more about inclusive education.
This 68-page manual is a valuable resource for families trying to understand the Texas special education system.
